My Old New New Year's Resolutions

With the New Year comes New Resolutions or new old broken resolutions from years past that are resurrected like Jesus from the tomb.  I don’t know how many times I have started out on some resolutions with pure determination every day doing exactly as I had planned and by the second week of January to fizzle out like a week old 2 liter of coke.

It’s easy to sit down and dream about what you ARE going to do sometime in the future.  We all can have a lifetime membership in the procrastinators club.  I have been meaning to sign up for some time now.  Resolutions some people say are to be broken.  That is just another excuse like my dog ate my resolutions or my cat used my resolutions for kitty litter so I couldn’t read them.

The resolution I would like everyone to think about can easily be remembered that you CAN do and keep.  ‘Spend TWC’.   Remember change is not instant and requires spending your time over a period of days, months, and/or years to be successful.  Live today, not in the past thinking of regrets or mistakes, and build the foundation with Christ that will focus your life from today forward.

Simply put a post it note or two on the bathroom mirror or in your car somewhere you frequent at least once a day.  Simply write Spend TWC  (TimeWithChrist).  Take a few seconds out of your day to pray that Jesus help you build a relationship with God.  If you like to take it a step further and let God know how you feel, I don’t mean those nice little feelings you put out so you don’t hurt someone else’s feelings.  I am talking about those deep down I am mad as hell and I am not gonna take it anymore feelings (let God have it real good if you need to) or those glorious passionate feelings of love or joy or thankfulness.    Find the truth within yourself as the old saying goes ‘to thine own self be true’.

I have a friend and she is honest with me (sometimes brutally honest) in certain areas of my life. I was offended by some of these things she was telling me about my actions or attitude and how I needed to change.  I was not happy to say the least.  But you know what, she was right (just don’t tell her).  I hate when that happens.  But it changed my life for the better even though it is a slow process of change I am doing much better now that someone had the guts to tell me how I was acting.

The only true growth goes to finding the truth within yourself in order to see where you can improve your life.  Christ will help you in your quest for God and in your quest for yourself.  God already knows your most inner desires, fears, hopes, and dreams.  Jesus is already reaching out to you all you have to do is take his hand and put your trust, faith, and hope in a relationship that will change your life.

Proverbs is where I did most of my reading while I was trying to mature into adulthood and still a place I find guidance.  There are 31 Chapters in Proverbs.  Pick a month and read a chapter a day.  Christians are not perfect by any means, however, when I was growing up my mom did say I was a lil angel then she would get this silly grin on her face then say and sometimes a lil devil too.  Thanks MOM I love you too.  Like your New Years resolutions that you will fulfill, a relationship with God takes commitment, discipline, and time.  I didn’t/don’t always follow good judgment or make good decisions, however, I do continue to read the Bible and build on a relationship with God to gain wisdom in order to improve my life and make better decisions as well as have better judgment.  God is talking to ALL of us.  Just take the time to listen.

Proverbs Chapter 22 Verse 17-19

17-Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise, and apply your heart to my (God’s) knowledge:

18-For it is a pleasant thing if you keep them within you; let them be fixed upon your lips,

19-So that your trust may be in the Lord; I have instructed you today, even you.

So spend some TWC so you can DISCOVER GOD-DISCOVER YOURSELF and become the person you are destined to be.

Thanks for being with us today at Time With Christ. Please find it within yourself that Christ wants to spend that time with you in order to improve your life.

Let’s Pray

I am A light in this world, I am a child of God that is loved, I will find some time everyday to help improve my relationship with God by spending Time With Christ.  Amen.

Have a Blessed Journey and may the light of God always shine on you.

Happy New Year and Good Day :)
